Tokyo Tower, one of the biggest symbols in Japan, is a communications and observation tower in the Shiba-Koen district of Minato Tokyo, Japan.
It is the second-tallest structure in Japan. It was Japan’s highest tower before Tokyo Skytree surpassed it in 2010.
Tokyo Tower’s viewing platform is the place where most people go to see the view, but other than that, it’s good to also enjoy the tower from its ground level. So where is the best place to take photos of Tokyo Tower? Let’s find out!

Tokyo Tower’s Viewing Platform
The tower is pretty central in the capital, offering great views of the city at night and an ultra-romantic ambiance. There are two observation decks, both paid. The main deck at 150m costs 1,200 yen per adult, while tours including the main deck and the top deck at 250m cost 3,000 yen (2,800 yen if tickets are purchased in advance online).
You can see Tokyo Bay from the main deck. The top deck might even give you a view of Mt. Fuji on a clear day.

Under Tokyo Tower
Under the tower, itself is a great place to photograph Tokyo Tower. Under Tokyo Tower, you can get a good camera angle and admire its geometrical details. Unfortunately, tripods are not allowed here.

It’s also nice to take in a view of Tokyo Tower.
Let’s check out those Tokyo Tower shooting spots.

Sakurada Dori Street
On the south side of Tokyo Tower lies Sakuradadori Street. Photographers can capture the iconic landmark of downtown from the road. Each side of the street offers many unique viewpoints.
Additionally, several crosswalks have median strips for photographers to stop and take a picture from the middle of the road. However, these spaces are quite small so be careful to avoid obstructing others or putting yourself in a dangerous situation.
Since it’s a long road, you can locate Fushimi Sanpo Inari Jinja using Google Maps.

Kumano Shrine
On the road where Kumano Shrine is located, you can take pictures Tokyo Tower in an elegant countryside mood.
With the trees and roads, it creates a perfectly one-point perspective frame.

Zojo-ji Temple
In just a few minutes’ walk from Tokyo Tower, the Zojo-ji temple offers a nice view of Tokyo Tower.
The historical and religious significance of Zojo-ji makes it one of the most important temples in Japan.
Originally, it was located in Chioda, Tokyo.
Tokugawa Ieyasu had the temple moved, first to Hibiya, then in 1598, during the expansion of Edo Castle, to its present location.
Most of the Tokugawa family members, including Ieyasu himself, are buried here.
The superhero film “Wolverine” was also filmed there.

Minato Ward Shiba Park
This is alsowhere the movie “The Apology King” (2013) was filmed. It has a promenade, a playground, and historic sites such as the Maruyama burial mound (large keyhole-shaped tomb) and Maruyama shell mound.
