Actor | The Last Samurai
Born October 21, 1959, from Niigata Prefecture. In 1987, he starred in the NHK taiga drama “Dokugan Ryu Masamune” and gained popularity. In 2003, he was nominated for the 76th Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the 61st Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in the movie Last Samurai. Representative works include the films “Tomorrow’s Memories”, “Letters from Iwo Jima”, and “The Unset Sun”.
