Born October 12, 1960, from Tokyo. He has been active as a child actor since the age of five, and made a full-fledged debut in the Toei movie “The Yagyu Clan’s Conspiracy” in 1977. In 1987, he played the leading role in the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” and won the Arts Festival Award. In 1988, he was awarded the Best Supporting Actor for Phantom Thief Ruby in the Daily Sports Film Awards, and in 1995 was awarded the Best Actor in the Sharaku. He is active in various fields such as movies, stages and dramas. In 2002, he won leading actor awards for the first time in seven years in The Twilight Samurai .
