An investigative journalist and the first foreigner to work for the famous Yomiuri Shinbun. Adelstien for the greater part of his career at the Yomiuri Shinbun, covered organized crime syndicates in Japan more known as yakuza. After working for the newspaper, he published his own memoir called, Tokyo Vice which later became adapted into a TV drama series on HBO.
